On August 30, 2018, our sweet Henry turned TWO years old! I’m well aware that this post is several months late, but better late than never- right? I love planning parties for my boys, and Herny’s farm-themed second birthday was no exception. We had it in Gunter, TX at Preston Trail Farms. If you are local and haven’t been up that way, you have to go! The kids always have a blast and get a ton of energy out.
Planning Herny’s party gave me a good distraction from my grief in the first few months after loosing Harper. It gave me something to do and somewhere else to focus my attention besides the loss of my daughter.
Henry himself did the same things in those early days after our loss. He literally gave me a reason to get out of bed each day. He made me smile and laugh, even when all I wanted to do was cry and moan. Him and his brother kept me going and were a shining light in the midst of my darkest days. For that, I will always be thankful.
Henry- we love you so much, son. You have your own, special “personality” that keeps us on our toes. You are strong-willed and determined to get your way. You introduced us, as parents, to tantrums, fits, and flailing your body on the ground in anger. Thankfully, you and your little bald head are cute enough for us to forgive you quickly. You are fearless, brave, and strong. Your love language so far is definitely touch. Though you aren’t a huge “snuggler,” we can tell you feel the most loved when we give you hugs, kisses, or kiss your owies. Though you can’t quite understand it yet, you are the best big brother to Harper. We desperately wish you could grow up with your sister, but hope that you will get to live out your “big brother role” here on Earth with your sister, Hattie. We love you more than you could ever know, Henry Jack.
